Presented on April 3, 2016
Presented by Dr. Stephen Ferrara, FSIR – US Navy

This presentation will describe the amazing story of how Interventional Radiology was introduced into some of the most rugged environments on earth -- from the Asian tsunami to the battlefields of Afghanistan. How IR teams are shattering traditional paradigms by using team-based care, determination, and out-of-the-box thinking to save lives and forever elevate the standard of care for patients around the world.

Steve Ferrara is a Captain and recently the Navy’s Ch ief Medical Officer. In addition to expertise in health system leadership, policy, and administration he maintains an active clinical practice in interventional radiology with special expertise in pediatric intervention, treatment of complex vascular malformations, and peripheral arterial disease. Areas of particular policy interests are process improvement and high reliability as well as the use of medical diplomacy
as a foreign policy tool.
