According to the CDC, at least 1.7 million adults in the US develop sepsis. One in three patients who dies in a hospital has sepsis. IR procedures may be the initial, and sometimes only, procedure to treat the patient with sepsis. New definitions of sepsis and procedural interventions will be described and discussed using lecture, imaging and case study.
