A multidisciplinary Lean Sigma QI team of front-line staff collaborated to improve significant, problematic IR procedure delays and patient experience. The team designed and developed a computer app that uses daily EMR data extracts to supply a real-time, color-coded, electronic “Patient Delay Dashboard” seen on flat screens throughout the department. Additional improvements included PACU throughput, development of an IR bedside service, reduced PT/INR requirement, reduced cost, and initiation of electronic smart surveys for every outpatient.
