The Joint Commission has embarked on disease specific care certification for years and Primary Stroke centers have been around since 2003. The consensus amongst experts in stroke care was there was an element missing, that there were organizations providing care above the primary designation.
Our organization recognized the gap in our stroke service and hired two neuro-interventionalists in 2009. We built a neuro-interventional program and once criteria were published for Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC), we embarked on the road to certification.
Stroke treatment has been evolving and endovascular treatment has become a standard of care. Through this webinar we will discuss the road to Comprehensive Stroke Center designation and the current endovascular treatments for stroke care. There will be a case study presentation of patients treated in our CSC certified program.
