Social Media applications have been rapidly adopted by users of all ages, forcing us to change how we think about communication. We have gone from telephone & face to face encounters to a digital public paradigm involving the use of social media. I will discuss how this impacts nursing practice, eputation, productivity and privacy. The wide use of social media both outside & within the healthcare community has far reaching implications for healthcare & the nursing profession. In terms of increased opportunities to communicate at personal & professional levels & enhanced access to information by both healthcare providers & members of the public.

Nicole L. Holmes, R.N. BSN graduated Essex Community College and University of Notre Dame of Maryland. Nicole is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Nursing from Drexel University.
